Been a while

Having made this blog to basically spew out whatever I thought was interesting I'm considering getting back into it but in order to do this I need a theme. Being that my previous posts were mostly about current events and interesting things going on I figure I'll continue that pattern by reporting current news.

"2014: The year we pulled out"

Looking at the world today one interesting topic has to do with the US and war, more specifically with Afghanistan. Going on since 2001 the primary driver for the war was the attacks on September 11 that brought the Twin Towers to the ground, since then the government has spent 4-6 billion dollars a month sustaining this war. Sharing some good news, the Obama administration has decided to remove all troops from Afghanistan by 2014 and is scheduled to meet with the Afghan President on Friday. Contending both sides, on the one hand removing our troops will save us a large chunk of the 4-6 billion wasted every month that can go towards either managing this ridiculous debt the country has gotten itself into or improving our infrastructure. Looking at the negatives of removing troops, many believe that doing so will only weaken the Afghan National Security Forces making it easier for Al-Qaeda to operate within the country. Whether we choose to withdraw completely or keep some troops to assist the Afghans, one thing is certain and that is that if we don't pull out of Afghanistan eventually we'll end up as broke as when the Soviet Union decided to invade Afghanistan in 1979 finally having to pull out 10 years later.

Back from Hibernation

And the first thing I wanna say is that anyone who is heavily invested on the stock market ouch for you

Current Market Indexes as of 09/22/11 3:23 PM are as follow :

Dow Jones
10,612.01 -512.83 (-4.61%)

S&P 500
1,115.80 -50.96 (-4.37%)

Nasdaq
2,423.28 -114.91 (-4.53%)

well this was obviously seen as soon as the Federal Reserve decided to unveil Operation Twist which is moving around $400 billion from short term treasuries to long term treasuries, this and Greece's debt crisis is not good. What wonderful times we have ahead of us hopefully everything will all go well.

Happy Easter!

Today is the day that Jesus rose back from the dead on a majestic bunny rabbit to bring psychedelic eggs to all those across the land who believe in him. The only problem is that these eggs are scattered and hidden across the earth like dragon balls and in order to find them one must have faith in Jesus and his bunny.

Sadly my faith has not been strong enough and so I sit here with no chocolate but mark my words one day I will find those eggs my theory is that they are in my neighbors backyard ^_^

Mr Anderson!

I'd like to quote a line from the matrix that I found very interesting.

Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment. But you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed and the only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what that is? A virus.

A friend of mine says that other mammals dont find equilibrium on their own. they find it through being eaten by predators. usually its their young who are eaten, as the old become smart. sound familiar?

Writers block?

It's been a while since I've written on here, so I thought I'd start up again, I currently find myself experiencing writers block as I try to complete my 6 page essay that is due on Wednesday I find myself unable to come up with the words to describe how the dualism in American politics has created two extremes (LEFT vs RIGHT).

Have you ever had writers block? If you have you understand the frustration that can be experienced as you try to complete your work on time.

What would your ideal job be?

It can be anything from a business tycoon to a carpenter, and lets take for instance that money and power is included with anything you do so you don't base your dream job on the salary range. What is your true passion that you would like to make a profession?

I ask this because I believe few people my age range (18-24) know exactly what they want and what fuels them. What did you do to find your drive?

What is your favorite pokemon and why?

So in light of the new pokemon white and black games that have just come out for the Nintendo DS.

Briefly describe your favorite pokemon whether original 150 or the newer ones.

Mine is personally not a single pokemon but a combination of two pokemon. Venustoise is a combination of Blastoise and Venusaur in Episode 20 of the Original pokemon series. This pokemon was created by a Ghastly who could speak.

New Volkswagen Bus?

Originally the concept car was announced in the Detroit Auto show in 2001 but recently it has been redesigned and they're previous 3.2 liter V6 has been replaced by 85 kilowatt electric motor with 199 pound-feet of torque. The current pros to this are the savings in gas prices every year but sadly the top speed limit is 87 mpg but VW states that a single charge can get you an average of 180 miles

Are you feeling the gas prices?

I don't mean to be the bearer of bad news but after the whole egypt protest libya thought they could do it as well so know we have they're government on the verge of destruction. Libya is one of the top ten riches countries when it comes to oil which can only mean that prices per barrel will rise and we will drive less and spend less furthering the recession that's never talked about anymore.

On a side note yesterday I went to the mall and was surprised to see so many stores closing down, even the major stores like FYE could not compete and had to shutdown. How bad is it hitting us when these stores are going down? People are in fear and it's only bound to get worse.

Any Suggestions on how to fix it?
(World War 3 doesn't count)

Is being selfish bad?

Although you do not think so, you are selfish! This doesn't mean that you have done something wrong, in fact it is normal to be selfish if we weren't where would we be now?

Selfish desire is a motivation to act from your own point of view in which you are driven by a desire to change a feeling to another, this is an extremely important factor to recognize in life but choose to overlook it. I believe that Selfishness motivates human emotion, by thinking of what you want you may choose to help others in order to help yourself which should still be considered a selfish thought but it's the bright side of the selfishness the media and society portrays as being wrong.

Can a blog change your fate?

I mean you're reading it now, which must mean you could be doing something else. How will this affect the rest of your life? Maybe it'll make a little bit of a difference like you'll eat a second later, or maybe it'll change your life completely like while you read this you forget to charge your phone and it dies. Imagine if the butterfly effect was real (For all those who don't know the butterfly effect is the phenomenon whereby a small change at one place in a complex system can have large effects elsewhere)
and reading this blog caused people in egypt to stop rioting. I don't really think so but it's fun to imagine the possibilities of the future.

You were on your way home when you died!

It was a car accident. Nothing particularly remarkable, but fatal nonetheless. You left behind a wife and two children. It was a painless death. The EMT tried their best to save you, but to no avail. Your body was so utterly shattered you were better off, trust me.
And that's when you met me.
"What... what happened?" You asked. "Where am I?"
"You died," I said, matter-of-factly. No point in mincing words.
"There was a... a truck and it was skidding..."
"Yup." I said.
"I... I died?"
Yup. But don't feel bad about it. Everyone dies." I said.
You looked around. There was nothingness. Just you and me. "What is this place?" You asked. "Is this the afterlife?"
"More or less." I said.
"Are you god?" You asked.
"Yup." I replied. "I'm God."
"My kids.. My wife," you said.
"What about them?"
"Will they be all right?"
"That's what I like to see." I said. "You just died and your main concern is for your family. That's good stuff right there."
You looked at me with fascination. To you, I didn't look like God. I just looked like some man. Or possibly a woman. Some vague authority figure, maybe. More of a grammar school teacher than the almighty.
"Don't worry," I said. "They'll be fine. Your kids will remember you as perfect in every way. They didn't have time to grow contempt for you. Your wife will cry on the outside, but will be secretly relieved. To be fair, your marriage was falling apart. If it's any consolation, she'll feel very guilty for feeling relieved."
"Oh," you said. "So what happens now? Do I go to heaven or hell or something?"
"Neither," I said. "You'll be reincarnated."
"Ah," you said. "So the Hindus were right."
"All religions are right in their own way," I said. "Walk with me."
You followed along as we strode through the void. "Where are we going?"
"Nowhere in particular," I said. "It's just nice to walk while we talk."
"So what's the point, then?" You asked. "When I get reborn, I'll just be a blank slate, right? A baby. So all my experiences and everything I did in this life won't matter."
"Not so!" I said. "You have within you all the knowledge and experiences of all your past lives. You just don't remember them right now."
I stopped walking and took you by the shoulders. "Your soul is more magnificent, beautiful, and gigantic than you can possibly image. A human mind can only contain a tiny fraction of what you are. It's like sticking your finger in a glass of water to see if it's hot or cold. You put a tiny part of yourself into the vessel, and when you bring it back out, you've gained all the experience it had."
"You've been in a human for the last 48 years, so you haven't stretched out yet and felt the rest of your immense consciousness. If we hung out here for long enough, you'd start remembering everything. But there's no point to doing that between each life."
"How many times have I been reincarnated, then?"
"Oh, lots. Lots and lots. And in to lots of different lives," I said. "This time around, you'll be a Chinese peasant girl in 540 AD."
"Wait, what?" You stammered. "You're sending me back in time?"
"Well, I guess technically. Time, as you know it, only exists in your universe. Things are different where I came from."
"Where you come from?" You said.
"Oh sure," I explained. "I come from somewhere. Somewhere else. And there are others like me. I know you'll want to know what it's like there, but honestly, you wouldn't understand."
"Oh," you said, a little let down. "But wait. If I get reincarnated to other places in time, I could have interacted with myself at some point."
"Sure. Happens all the time. And with both lives only aware of their own lifespan, you don't even know it's happening."
"So what's the point of it all?"
"Seriously?" I asked. "Seriously? You're asking me for the meaning of life? Isn't that a little stereotypical?"
"Well, it's a reasonable question," you persisted.
I looked you in the eye. "The meaning of life, the reason I made this whole universe, is for you to mature."
"You mean mankind? You want us to mature?"
"No, just you. I made this whole universe for you. With each new life you grow and mature and become a larger and greater intellect."
"Just me? What about everyone else?"
"There is no one else," I said. "In this universe, there's just you and me."
You stared blankly at me. "But all the people on earth..."
"All you. Different incarnations of you."
"Wait, I'm everyone!?"
"Now you're getting it," I said, with a congratulatory slap on the back.
"I'm every human being who ever lived?"
"Or who will ever live, yes."
"I'm Abraham Lincoln?"
"And you're John Wilkes Booth, too," I added.
"I'm Hitler?" You said, appalled.
"And you're the millions he killed."
"I'm Jesus?"
"And you're everyone who followed him."
You fell silent.
"Every time you victimized someone," I said, "you were victimizing yourself. Every act of kindness you've done, you've done to yourself. Every happy and sad moment ever experienced by any human was, or will be, experienced by you."
You thought for a long time.
"Why?" You asked me. "Why do you do all this?"
"Because someday, you will become like me. Because that's what you are. You're one of my kind. You're my child."
"Whoa," you said, incredulous. "You mean I'm a god?"
"No, not yet. You're a fetus. You're still growing. Once you've lived every human life throughout all time, you will have grown enough to be born."
"So the whole universe," you said, "it's just..."
"An egg." I answered. "Now it's time for you to move on to your next life."
And I sent you on your way.

Sex List gone Viral?

So a girl named Karen Owen from Duke university decided to do a sex list describing all the guys in the Duke University athletics department she has had intercourse with she rates them on several scales from the size of their member to they're performance in bed, she has a total of 13 different guys in 4 years on this list in her 42 page powerpoint titled "An education beyond the classroom: excelling in the realm of horizontal academics" that she originally only sent to a couple of friends before it went out of hand and soon went Viral and everyone had a copy in their hands.

What's your opinion on the matter?
